In the music world, evading taxes is the new black.
Multi-platinum rapper Joseph “Fat Joe” Cartagena is the latest to plead guilty for failing to pay his taxes. Allegedly, Fat Joe owes the government over $3 million income taxes from the years 2007 to 2010. The Miami Beach resident, who was tried in New Jersey, will spend four months behind bars for his crime.
This news comes fresh off the tax evading heels of Ja Rule’s 28 month stint in prison and Lauryn Hills’ sentence. Moral of the story: Try not to owe the government millions of dollars; they will probably find out.
